Coach, Powerlifting & Juniors
To be successful in all things fitness, Jared realized working hard isn’t enough; you also need to work smart. That’s why Jared began seriously working with a trainer when he was 14 years old. Initially, Jared’s goal was sport specific. He sought to improve his performance in the five different sports he played: tennis, soccer, boxing and ice and roller hockey.
Jared’s passion for all things sports was endless. He played soccer on the most competitive team at Crescent, while also playing goalie for the AA North York Knights from Minor Adam to the end of high school. Concurrently, he was also the forward on a competitive Roller Hockey team, while also finding time to spar in the boxing ring multiple times each week.
Through this exposure to high level sports and his own personal training, Jared found his passion for fitness and began sharing his knowledge with others. He then discovered CrossFit and began to focus all of his time on competing in CrossFit and Powerlifting (in which he holds multiple national records).
An injury temporarily sidelined Jared from competing for a few years, but he’s since found satisfaction in helping others reach their goals. Battling injuries and losing motivation at times were instrumental in teaching Jared how to better understand clients and help them work through their own obstacles.
Through his constant pursuit of educating / motivating others, and a little bit of luck, he’s had the pleasure of training many elite level athletes - a first round draft pick to the National Lacrosse League and ECAA Rookie of The Year, an olympic level swimmer, and a university level hockey player, amongst others. In addition, he’s also well versed in working with introducing fitness to beginners, which is why he has many personal training clients and heads up AIO’s Junior programs.
Those who’ve worked with Jared, know his work doesn’t end once the training session is over. He constantly sends clients links to educational/motivational articles and frequently checks in with them outside of the gym.
PS. Jared believes in having the right workout / life balance. He doesn’t expect you to bring your meals in a tupperware container to a restaurant or abstain from having a few drinks on the weekend. He likes to have fun outside of the gym too! For proof, check out his instagram @squatalot.
