Donna Paul

Junior Sport Specialist

Montessori teacher by day, CrossFitter, touch football quarterback and writer by night!

CrossFit has been a part of Donna’s training regime for almost a decade. She enjoys participating in team competitions, including the CrossFit Regionals in 2010 as an individual athlete. This was an inspiring and humbling moment for her. It was here where she realized just how effective CrossFit is for athletic performance. She loves the positive impact that CrossFit has had on her touch football game as well as in her daily life.

Donna even incorporates some of the basics of CrossFit into her classroom - often times students are found doing push-ups, squats and even handstands! And class field trips have even included an afternoon at AIO where Donna exposes students to the wonderful world of movement!

Since as early as Donna can remember, she has always played sports. Hockey and basketball kept her busy in the winter while softball and football occupied her summer holidays. There isn’t a sport that she did not take interest in. As a teenager, Donna played AAA ice hockey in Ottawa. This is where she was first exposed to “dry land training” to improve performance. And thus began her dedication to improving her physicality for athletic purposes. Donna attended the University of Toronto and played for the Varsity Blues women’s ice hockey team for 4 years. In her second year with the team they won a national title. Donna is a fiesty and pesky right winger who often forgets her size when on the ice. Not afraid to get aggressive in front of the opposing teams net, Donna was known for scoring many “garbage goals”. A goal is a goal, right?

While at the University of Toronto, Donna received her NCCP Level II Ice Hockey Coach certification. This intensive program teaches coaches how to communicate effectively with athletes, how to support the athlete in a team environment, and how to support the athlete in the training environment. Combining the skills of a coach and a teacher, Donna’s philosophy emphasizes mastering skills while also developing the athletes confidence, self-esteem and love for keeping their body fit and healthy.

Donna is excited to share her passion for fitness, wellness and teaching at AIO and to be a part of the amazing AIO team and community. She is especially eager to help young athletes realize their potential through hard work and dedication.
