How to Get the Most out of Your AIO Membership

By January 28, 2019 No Comments

At AIO, we just might be more passionate about you achieving your goals than you are. Nothing fires us up more than seeing people hit PR’s, burning fat, gaining muscle and feeling better about themselves. It’s the reason why we opened AIO and the reason why we love coming in everyday. Given this, we want you to use the gym as best as you possibly can to get the most out of your membership. Here are some ideas of how best to do that.

Use the Mobility Studio

We created our mobility studio because we saw a need to improve positioning and range of motion of our members. Flexibility is just as important as strength, power and cardio, yet the vast majority of people don’t spend time on it. Without proper range of motion, there is a strong likelihood that you aren’t hitting ideal positions on your lifts, which means that you could be lifting even more, and you’re creating muscle imbalances that will increase your risk of injury. Now you might be saying that you don’t know how to improve your mobility. No problem, we have you covered. You can attend one of our Yoga or Stretch and Roll classes to have an instructor help guide you through a stretching session. If you’re unable to attend a class, we have an online guided stretching program, named ROMWOD (Range Of Motion Workout Of the Day), which can be run through the TV in the mobility studio and will put you through a different guided stretching program everyday for anywhere between 15-50 minutes. We know that stretching isn’t “the sexy thing to do”, but there was a day when you didn’t realize how great CrossFit could make you feel. Then you signed up and within a few weeks, it became something that you couldn’t do without. Stretching will be the same. You don’t know that you need it, until you start doing it.

Improve Your Nutrition

To exercise is one thing, and it’s a great thing to do, but to truly be as healthy and as fit as you can be, you need to address your nutrition as well. You can’t exercise out a poor diet. Even if you don’t see the negative effects, you’ll feel them. Many people feel that they’ll be deprived if they try to eat healthy, yet nothing could be further from the truth. When you start fueling your body with healthy foods, not only will you see a benefit in your performance, but also your body will start to change, you’ll have way more energy and you’ll actually start to crave foods that are good for you. You’ll naturally begin to move away from foods that don’t contribute to your health. How great is that?! You’ll actually want to eat healthy! We have many ways where we can help you do this. We have complimentary nutrition seminars throughout the year, one on one nutritional consultations, as well as our more in depth programs, AIO on Macros and Executive Body Transformation, which will both use body measurements and regular meetings to help you customize your nutrition so that it is personalized to your needs.

Attend Specialty Classes

As I’m sure you’ve heard us say many times over and over, technique is EVERYTHING! Without proper technique, not only are you at a greater risk of injury, but you won’t be as efficient with your movement either, so your performance will suffer. A great way to improve your technique is to attend our many specialty classes that we offer. We currently have Olympic Lifting, Powerlifting and Gymnastics on our schedule and each one will help you to improve a different skill set.

Personal Training, Small Group Classes and individualized Programming

If you’d like more rapid improvement, or you have specific targets in mind, personal training or small group classes might be more suited to your needs. Whether you want to improve a certain skill, learn what exercises you should be doing to prevent/recover from an injury or just have a program written up for you to lay out exactly how you should go about achieving your goals, our trainers can help you out.

Partake in Healthy Lifestyle Habits

What you do outside of the gym can certainly help what you do inside of it. Sleep is probably the most underrated factor contributing to one’s health and the majority of us do not get enough of it. Aim to fall asleep by 10-10:30pm and hopefully wake up without an alarm clock (I know, I know, it’s more likely to see pigs fly, but at least set it for as late as you can). If you have a hard time falling or staying asleep, you can try our Yin Reserve. It’s a magnesium based supplement, which helps you to fall asleep easier and have a deeper sleep, without any issues with waking up in the morning. Be sure to ask Coach Carlo about how to best use it.

Reducing stress will also help you to feel better, as well as recover faster from workouts and improve your overall health. Attending our yoga classes will help with this, along with maintaining a daily meditation practice and epsom salt baths.

Keeping a foundational supplement program will help to keep your energy levels up and health sound. Coach Carlo recommends that a multivitamin, probiotics, fish oil and digestive aid should be taken on a daily basis. Be sure to ask him about the brands that we have available for you and the proper dosages of each.

Using the above tips will help you to get the most out of your AIO gym membership. You’ll find that not only will your performance improve, your body will change and you’ll feel better than ever before! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask us.
